2012-13 Biological Chemistry Distinguished Lecture Series
|
This series has been organized by a committee of departmental students, postdocs
and faculty and is designed to give you the opportunity to meet exceptional scientists
from other institutions and learn about their area of research. Preceding each seminar
will be a 2-hour class, organized and run by the student/postdoc hosts of the speaker,
that will provide an introduction to the research area and a discussion of two research
papers from the speaker’s group that are relevant to the seminar topic. Class
participants are invited to a catered lunch to meet the seminar speaker and discuss
the research area in greater detail. There will also be opportunities to meet one-on-one
with the speaker for especially interested students and postdocs. We strongly encourage
all students, but particularly those in their second or third years, to participate in
this class/seminar program. This is a terrific chance to learn about a broad array of
research areas from leaders in these areas.
We will ask for reservations for the class/lunch because space is limited and so that
we have an idea of the number of people who will attend.
