The Ovarian Cancer Problem:

Ovarian Cancers affect 20-30,000 women in this country and are often lethal. The reason for the high mortality rate is that the cancers are often not identified early enough. The need for markers and model systems to study this disease are just two of the major impediments to progress in this area.

The Lane Lab works on problems related to the genetics and early development of ovarian cancer. We are especially interested in identifing processes which protect women from developing Ovarian Cancer in the first place.
